Task at Hand
One of the projects at Bandra Kurla Complex, housing many commercial buildings, was suffering serious leakages. Conventional waterproofing systems didn’t prove efficient against the high-pressure leaking water, so two-component polyurethane (PUR) resin injection was recommended using KingKrete Packers.
Due to wet conditions and to avoid high costs, most water leakage was controlled with cement grouting. In cases of very high water pressure, the PUR water-stopping foam KingInject 80PU1 was used immediately before the resin injection. After containing the water temporarily in the basement’s structural cracks, the two-component polyurethane resin system KingInject 80PU2 was injected under high pressure — the ideal solution for permanently sealing active leakage.
KingKrete Solution
KingKrete Packers were arranged in a calculated fashion and drilled at 45-degree angles in a zigzag pattern along the crack where injection occurs. A high-pressure foot pump was used to inject the low-viscosity PUR resin KingInject 80PU2, which creates a flexible film that permanently blocks all active leakage.
Area covered: approximately 450 linear metres of water leakage.
