Task at Hand
The owner of this private seaside chalet aimed to renovate the already-tiled pool surrounding area of 200 square metres with a durable, low-maintenance, UV-resistant flooring system applied on top of the ceramic tiles, providing a natural aesthetic appearance.
KingKrete Solution
A unique flooring solution using a polyurethane-based matrix to bind aggregates, offering a variety of finishes determined by aggregate type, colour, size, and resin ratio. Crafted with a two-part, high-density polyurethane resin, it ensures durability with on-site customisation across a diverse selection of decorative aggregates.
Applied over the existing tiles — no strip-out needed. Surfaces were cleaned and prepared; damaged tiles were removed and gaps filled with the high-quality cementitious grout KingGrout GP60; irregularities and cracks were repaired with KingRep EP10 epoxy paste.
The substrate was primed with KingFloor Primer, an epoxy-based primer for floorings and coatings, providing better adhesion.
KingFloor PU Screed resin was mixed with the chosen aggregates and transferred to the primed surface at the desired thickness; a hand trowel provided a compacted, levelled surface.
A sealer coat of neat KingFloor PU Screed resin was applied for complete protection of the porous surface.
The primary benefit is lower maintenance expense — eliminating the need for replacement or re-application of the whole system due to frequent use, with a timeless, natural appearance.
